Danny Summer Concert

星期六與他去了看夏紹聲演唱會，如我們所料，這是一個十分值得看的演唱會，我會說比起學友的巡迴更好看。

先說說音樂班底：

包以正Eugene Pao-本地top jazz guitarist，有幾次想看他的concenrt都買不到飛

鄧建明Joey Tang-在不少local concert都欣賞過他的才藝，真的彈足一晚都咁正，勁！

竹田和夫Kazuo Takeda-日籍jazz and blues guitarist，在LA有自己的jazz quartet

還有兩個從LA及Chicago 來的黑人分別玩drums and percussions，整晚就被他們的音樂吸引了。

加上Danny Summer用他那極滄桑的歌喉演繹出不同的歌曲，如"這是愛""結他低泣時""交叉點"等等，又係一個字："正"!。最後encore 了兩次才完場，很多人更站起來拍掌，it's really a genuine good show!

Minimalism

What kind of lifestyle are you leading? Luxurious? Simple? Casual?

Ever since I started working and getting my paycheck every month, "Shopping" seems to be a habit for me. No planning, no researching before I shop.....I just go with my instincts. As times goes by, things started to stock-up in my closet and I started to feel bad about wasting money on the things that I don't really want. Lately, I've been looking into a lifestyle which is totally different than my own for the past 3x years. It's called Minimalism.

"Minimalism is a style in art, design and theatre that uses the smallest range of materials and colours possible, and only very simple shapes or forms." (Cambridge Dictionary)

"Minimalism is a way of life, a pared-down existence, BUT with a difference. Minimalism, as a life-style, has as a basic precept: aesthetics. Possessions are chosen because they function well and look good. Outwardly they are simple, elegant, free of clutter, and understated. This also applies to our environments, our food, our clothes etc. "

Minimalism doesn't mean I have to live my life as a nun. It's different than living in a "Simplicity" lifestyle which one consciously choose to minimize the pursuit of wealth and consumption. Minimalism still allows me to buy things I "need" but before getting the money out of my pocket, I need to know which items is the best for me and it must be with high quality which allows me to use or keep for a long time.

Can I apply this concept to my wedding? The clothes I wear? The food I consume? My relationship with others? How about my thoughts?

For one more day

Just finished "For One More Day" by Mitch Albom. I'm not going into details about this book but sure it's a good one..it made me think of the followng questions...maybe you can ponder on them too...

What will you do if.....

you can be with your lost loved one...for one more day?

you can stay in your old job...for one more day?

you can go back to high school or college...for one more day?

you can be single again (if you're married)....for one more day?

you can have your best vocation....for one more day?

you can extend the due day of your credit card payment...for one more day?

One day seems short but sometimes you want to trade it with everything you've got.....

A very good book on how to have a positive in the workplace. The following story brings the same message. Enjoy!

西雅圖有個很特殊的魚市場叫做Parkplace Market, 他們特殊的賣魚及批發處理魚貨的方式，曾被無數的電視台報導過，也使之成為遊客如織的觀光點。不同於一般魚市場埋頭苦幹的沈默與沈重，這個西雅圖魚市的魚商，創造了一種像遊戲般的工作方式，不但娛樂自己，也娛樂客人。
在這裡，你看不到臉色沈重的人，他們總像面帶笑容、合作無間的棒球隊，大家身手不凡，讓冰凍的魚像棒球一樣在空中飛來飛去的傳遞，大家互相唱和：「啊，五條鱈魚飛往明尼蘇達去了。」「八隻螃蟹飛去堪薩斯。」練久了，人人身手不凡，可以媲美馬戲團團員。

這種工作的氣氛也影響了附近的上班族，他們常到這兒來和魚販一起用餐，感染他們樂在工作的好心情。有不少無力於提昇工作士氣的主管，還跑到這裡來找魚販，問他們:「為什麼一整天在這個充滿魚腥味的地方做苦工，你們竟然可以這麼快樂？」

魚販們也已經習慣幫這些上班族當心理諮詢師。魚販們還會邀請顧客參加「接魚」遊戲。即使怕魚腥味的人，都很容易在熱情的掌聲中一試再試，意猶未盡。每個愁眉不展的人，進了這個魚市場，很少不笑逐顏開的離開，手中提滿了情不自禁買下的魚貨，心裡也似乎都會悟到一點哲理。這個哲理就是：如魚得水的氣氛，要靠自己創造。即使工作本身無從選擇，並不是你理想中的謀生之道，你也總可以選擇做事的方式。或許，讓工作變成一種遊戲，你會開始熱愛它。工作的尊嚴和人的自尊一樣，只能在笑聲中尋獲。

據說這個魚市場，本來也是個死氣沈沈的地方，魚販們覺得與其每天抱怨沈重的工作，不如改變工作的品質。於是一個創意接著一個創意，一串笑聲接著另一串笑聲，他們成為魚市場中的「美國奇蹟」。副作用當然有，就是財源滾滾。誰能抗拒「買魚送快樂」的吸引力？有人把這個魚市場的故事拍成一卷成功學的錄影教學帶，推出後廣受各大企業歡迎。魚販們唱的一首歌，說出了他們的先知先覺：過去已成歷史，未來難以預知。

今天是個禮物，而今天就是此時此地，能使我們感覺如魚得水的快活因素，不是環境，而是態度。

Chloe..不再浪漫

很欣賞Chloe這品牌的style，很柔很elegant，感覺很romantic，如果它的衣服價錢不那麼貴的話，我想我也會置一兩件於衣櫃裡，現在唯有時不時上它的網站望梅止渴一番。剛剛瀏覽完它06秋冬的collection，唯一的反應是~點解咁架?? 件件都係闊袍大袖0既? 定係D models 瘦得滯影到D衫大件? D招牌喱士裙無晒? 究竟設計總監Phoebe Philo走後升左乜人做designer? 哎...... 很失望! 聽聞新的designers 位位身形有些份量，不知會否因此影響設計的方向呢?

Sliding Doors

I don't really like taking the MTR especially during rush hours. Last Friday I had to take it from Wanchai to TST as the traffic condition was bad on the road. So there I went, at 6:30 in the afternoon, walking through the crowd and trying to get on the next train. Unfortunately when I got to the platform, the train door started to close right in front of my eyes.

This experience reminds me of the movie "Sliding Doors". Helen, played by one of my favourite actress, Gwyneth Paltrow. The movie starts with a scene where Helen loses her job as an advertising executive, she decides to return home in the middle of the day. So she heads to the tube station and that's when the story begins.
In scenario 1, Helen just slips through the sliding doors before the train pulls out of the station. On board, she meets the cheerful, talkative James (John Hannah), a Monty Python fan who is taken with her beauty. Minutes later, in her flat, she walks in on her lover in bed with another woman. In scenario 2, she misses the train and, shortly thereafter, is the victim of an attempted mugging. She doesn't meet James and fails to make it home in time to discover Gerry's infidelity. Collocate against one another, while sharing many places, cues, and characters, the two stories proceed in parallel from there.

Life does compose of moments like this I believe. It's all about timing. If an incident happens to us with a different timing, the ending will be totally different and there's no gurantee if it will be better or worse. Somehow we just have to go with the flow, trust in God's planning and not to regret for what has already been done.
